What is the purpose of an air filter?
An air filter is a component of the motorcycle's fuel system.
It filters the outside air which is then routed to the combustion chamber.
There are different types of engine air filters; each manufacturer designs its own shape for use on its vehicles.
Air filters differ in both their shape (they can be round, ring-shaped, panel-mounted, cone-shaped, cylindrical, etc.)
Motorcycle air filters are available in terry cloth or other fabrics.

When to change the air filter and how to maintain it?
Wear and filtering capacity vary depending on different factors such as the type of filter, the type and quality of the road traveled, and the maintenance and cleaning performed on the filter.
That said, it is possible to provide some general guidelines.
If you mainly travel on urban or moderately clean roads, an air filter can easily last 20,000 to 30,000 km.
However, it is always recommended to check the manufacturer's recommended mileage for replacement in the owner's manual.
Regarding maintenance, a clear distinction must be made according to the material: paper air filters are NOT designed to be cleaned, while fabric filters can be washed and oiled with special products and thus have a much longer lifespan.
